Piero Terranova is an acclaimed Italian baritone whose career spans the world’s leading opera houses and festivals. He studied voice at the Conservatory of Cosenza, he refined his artistry under the guidance of renowned masters including Renata Scotto, Leo Nucci, and Leyla Gencer, and further specialized at the Accademia Verdiana in Busseto and the Accademia Chigiana in Siena.
Winner of the prestigious AS.LI.CO. Competition and a finalist at Placido Domingo’s Operalia, Terranova made his professional debut in 1994 as David in L’amico Fritz. Since then, he has embodied many of the great roles of the Italian repertoire, with standout portrayals of Rigoletto, Giorgio Germont (La Traviata), Nabucco, Iago (Otello), Renato (Un Ballo in Maschera), and Falstaff. His voice, praised for its richness of color and dramatic intensity, has taken him to Teatro alla Scala, Teatro Regio di Torino, La Fenice in Venice, Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Finnish National Opera, and stages across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. In recent years, he has continued to expand his repertoire with roles such as Amonasro (Aida), Don Giovanni, and innovative productions including the world premiere of Tarabella’s Pinocchio.
Across more than 25 years of performance, Piero Terranova has collaborated with eminent conductors such as Riccardo Muti, Daniele Gatti, Donato Renzetti, and José Cura, and directors including Franco Zeffirelli and Graham Vick. His interpretations are regularly celebrated by audiences and critics alike for their vocal authority and theatrical depth. Today, Piero Terranova remains a distinguished presence on the international opera stage, combining tradition with artistic curiosity, and bringing the timeless power of opera to new generations.
